About:
UrbanMop, a prominent cleaning service provider in the UAE, aimed to transition from a static website to a dynamic mobile app. This transformation was intended to provide a seamless user experience for booking cleaning services on both Android and iOS platforms.
Problem:
UrbanMop’s static website, while functional, lacked the scalability and user engagement needed to thrive in a competitive market. The goal was to design a mobile app that highlighted UrbanMop’s unique selling propositions: lower prices and reduced vendor commissions.
Team:
As the Product Designer, I led all research and design-related activities, collaborating with two designers on my team. Our development team included in-house and agency developers.
Solution:
We designed a feature-rich mobile app that prioritized user experience while maintaining performance efficiency. The app’s design emphasized lifestyle imagery and innovative UI solutions to differentiate UrbanMop from competitors.

Objective:
Understand user pain points and market trends to inform the app’s design and functionality.
User Research:
Leveraging insights from the existing website, we conducted targeted user research to identify key challenges in the booking process.
Competitor Analysis:
We analyzed key players in the market—ServiceMarket, Justlife, and Urban Company—to identify pain points and gather ideas for differentiation. This analysis revealed the need for a fast, intuitive booking flow and visually appealing design elements.

Inspiration:
We drew inspiration from both direct competitors and apps outside the cleaning service domain. This broadened our perspective and helped us innovate beyond industry norms.
Design Concepts:
Lifestyle Imagery:
Initially, we considered animations for an engaging visual experience. However, after studying competitors, we opted for lifestyle images to resonate more with users and create a relatable brand identity.Single-Screen Service Selection:
To simplify the booking process, we designed a single pop-up screen for service and sub-service selection. This streamlined the user journey and minimized navigation friction.

Wireframe:
Given tight deadlines, we developed quick wireframes and tested them internally with team members and the client’s marketing team to validate the flow and usability.
Design System:
To ensure consistency across the app’s 30+ screens, we created a robust design system featuring reusable components and style guidelines. This streamlined the design and development process.
UI Design
The app’s final design comprised 30+ screens, covering all user touchpoints, including service selection, booking, and profile management.
